I actually like the final design better than my previous approximations overall. My only gripes with it are that it doesn't use the regular Wheel number font for the "$1000" (trivial, I know), the "$1000" is off-center, and that the wedge is blue even though it's next to a blue wedge. They should have made it red, pink, or the purple that I originally thought it would be. Maybe they'll change it or that part of the layout next season.

I guess my feeling is that your approximations look "softer" and more realistic to the rest of the Wheel. The "bars" on the second/third and third/fourth designs (since you removed the first one) look like they don't have any beginning or end, whereas the real ones do. The "$1,000" on Express reminds me of the wide-font $1,000 used for about half of Season 2:  |

Like Free Play... brightness issue. On the whole it's good, but the blue in the middle of the 0s comes off too bright. Those kind of optical illusions trip me out... like that one with the black and white boxes. Either way, I like it. It's a little 90's cheesy which is exactly perfect. I'm excited to see how people handle it in play, since it's kind of a curve ball. I'm guessing there have been - and will be - some definite restarts and cuts/edits while people get used to it. Edit: Also, I'm not nearly as picky, and it's my alma mater's colors  |

Gold and blue are your alma mater's colors, Kate? If so, those are the colors of the high school I went to!
BTW, knowing the design of the Express wedge (all we have to do now is see it animated), I've got plans to redesign my own Express wedge. I see it has seven rails. I'll have my own set of rails and Wheels. When I put my design up at DeviantArt and link it here, please let me know what you think of it compared to the one on the show.

I love the Express wedge. But does the font look similar to Surprise wedge? It kinda remind me of it.

From the promo, the Express wedge seems to also flash a pinkish hue (pretty much, no creativity in copying Free Play's mechanics). Here's a pic showing the height of Express:  EDIT: Pat's interview asks about 6000 shows, and he acknowledges "at least 9000" shows including daytime. Hey, it's 100xx, but good job Pat! |
