Hey fellow Philly folks! did any of you see this news ? I am very curious how she knows she's on Philly week. I wonder if the husband set up the surprise and they are just assuming she's on the Philly week. Was her letter different than ours?? That's awesome that they did that for her! I wonder if WPVI knew what week she would be on directly from the WOF producers?

She looked like she was at one of the Tuesday auditions because Channel 6 was there covering it on that day only. My mother saw that report and was scared I missed the audition but mine was the Wednesday.

I guess they talked about Philly Week in that audition. They didn't mention anything about Philly Week in my audition. I didn't find out it until Pat and Vanna came to town to film.

Interesting, I guess they only mentioned the Philly Week during the morning auditions because they mentioned it in mine and it was at 10 AM. Also fun fact, the only other time I recall them doing a Philadelphia Week was Vanna's first permanent week. That's pretty awesome.

I saw it on the news the night before so I think someone in our group on Thursday specifically asked. I remember saying "should we list Philly week?" when they talked about things to include on our applications. The older gentleman said "you're all considered for the Philly week episodes" but one of the women said to list it if we were interested.
I do know that towards the end of the audition when they had a few of us pretend to introduce ourselves to the crowd, the man specifically asked "Do you live directly in Philadelphia or the surrounding area?" followed by "How long have you lived in Philadelphia?"
Please note my quotes might be off, it was three weeks ago.

With 3 days of auditions in Philly, I can't believe they would've only picked 15 contestants. (well, 16 counting presidentbacon, who's taping TODAY!!! woohoo!). But who knows? Does anyone have any stats on the average number of contestants picked from final auditions?

Not from Philly specifically but on WOF's website they say:
That's 6% of those actually auditioning. Less if you include applications that never get picked to audition.

I guess that's not so far off then.. 6% of the approximately 360 people at the Philly auditions would only be a little more than 20 people.

I just downloaded the Android app to my phone so I can study up and practice. May I also recommend this very site's Daily Puzzle Game? It's a touch harder than the actual show, but might provide some valuable practice all the same... Hi WooWho.. are you able to link me to the Daily Puzzle Game? I'm having trouble finding it. (sorry! learning the ropes!)

I'm pretty sure 600 is a lowball estimate, though: there are 585 contestant spots open each season (one each of red, yellow, and blue x 195 episodes), meaning the "600" number only really counts one five-show Teams Week (Couples, Sweethearts, Teen Best Friends, Best Friends, Mom & Me, etc.). Given the show does multiple Teams Weeks each season, including the "sixth-show" episodes, it's probably closer to 630 or so, making the percentage of contestants to applicants slightly higher than 6%.

This was in 1988 but former producer Nancy Jones said the odds of becoming a contestant on Wheel of Fortune is 1 in 10.

Hey guys, just a quick update. No letter here. It is bittersweet - I am really bummed because I did not get the letter but I am really excited and proud of all of my fellow Philly auditioners in this thread who are getting their shot to be on the show! Best of luck to all of you, and I CAN'T wait for your air dates!!! If I could redo my final audition, I wish I preformed a little better on my written test, but other than that, I feel like I did the best that I could. Not giving up - this was my first time auditioning, so I will definitely try again the next time Wheel is in the area. I am so glad that this crazy process introduced me to the BAV boards, and thanks to everyone for their support during the wait!

Sorry you won't be joining us speederice. You never know what specifically they were looking for. After the audition when a family member asked how I thought I did, I replied "I think I did alright, but it'll really come down to the demographics they were casting at the moment." which is what I truly believe. They have so many special themes that you might have just fit into a more competitive category while they were desperate for qualified candidates for a less competitive theme (number of applicant wise, I'm sure every competitor is competitive). Good luck and don't give up.

Did my Philly friends see this: Philly Week ? Anyone have any insight as to whether future contestants are eligible for this contest? The 'official' rules aren't posted yet. The Denver contest has the rules posted, but I didn't see anything about contestants not being eligible. Denver also indicated the travel dates: March 17-20. Interesting/Exciting!

Melanie That is a good question... As a prospective contestant for Denver week I'm not entering it, but family members have been asking me if they could. I'd like to err on the side of caution and say no but I really have no idea!
