I honestly don't think we'll see too many changes for Season 30. I'd love to see a complete set makeover, but I'm sure that isn't going to happen. Do you think they might update the opening theme music like they did for Season 25?

IMO, the current opening theme music is fine. Here's my list of suggestions:
-Bring back the Big Money Wedge like they had in Season 25 w/ the highest amount available $30K. -A "30" wedge which could be 30 of something. -Get rid of the 1/2 car tags altogether. -Like Wayoshi, $400 should be the minimum amount on the big Wheel, but not too many of them. -As Mario said, less $500 wedges and more of the higher non top-dollar amounts. -$1K-$1,500 by R3 is not a bad idea. -Jackpot and Mystery Rounds need to go back to R2 and R3, respectively. -scrap the Prize Puzzle round since they've been using way too many trips (and yes, a couple prize wedges will do just fine).

Get rid of the Million-Dollar wedge and up the biggest prize in the Bonus Round to 500K.

Odie, the show would go off the air in one or two seasons if they upped the non-million dollar prize to that much money. As one person said, the show has money problems. $100K is fine as it is.

So we only up to $250K!

That's still too much for a top prize. Adjustment for inflation is fine for the Bonus Wheel. It's the regular Wheel that needs upping, not the bonus amounts.

Does anyone know how the heck Wheel has had money problems? Is it the recession in general?

It doesn't help that they give away a guaranteed prize every single show...getting rid of the damn Trip Puzzle and putting it back on the wheel would help in that regard...

I think it's both the recession and the fact that they gave away the million when they never expected, nor probably wanted it to be won. After all, Season 27 was the start of the most noticeable budget-fixing changes: permanent second Bankrupt, Jackpot to R1 (with 2500 instead of 3500), and no more cars to Wheel Watchers Club members.

It doesn't help that they give away a guaranteed prize every single show...getting rid of the damn Trip Puzzle and putting it back on the wheel would help in that regard... Not only that, many contestants who solve the Trip Puzzle alone with little or no cash end up going to the Bonus Round thanks to the guaranteed trip. Often, their final scores are close together with the second place contestant, who may have solved more puzzles than the Trip Puzzle-winning contestant. I wasn't fond of the fact that they had to make the Prize Puzzle appear on every episode when they made that change, and still don't like it today.

Let's see... - I kind of want to have the Surprise wedge back. Maybe replace the Prize Puzzle with it? - One change I propose regarding the million dollars: if the MDW is brought to the bonus round, have the million dollar envelope replace one of the $30,000 envelopes instead of the $100,000 envelope. - Overall, change the distribution of the bonus envelopes so we don't see $30,000 day in and day out. - Vowels at $500 each. (This also makes using Free Play for vowels more justifiable.) - Increase the money values. At least $400 as the smallest value, more values like $750/$850, permanent $1000 and $1500 wedges in later rounds, R3 $4000 big money wedge, etc. - Make the Wild Card worth $500 a consonant. - Retire the gift tag.

So, to make the Wild Card worth $500/consonant, I assume you would want it moved to a $500 wedge? Honestly, just move it back to the $700 wedge and make it $700/consonant since the wedge values are increasing.
I don't think the big money wedge ever going to come back. It was a one and done thing. To be perfectly honest, I never really liked it anyway.
As far as wheel values increasing, my theory has always been to increase every almost every dollar amount (except for the big ones) by $200. Doing so does require so wedge replacement so there are no two wedges of the same amount side by side when it's all said and done. For the top dollar values: $2500 for R1, $3500 for R2, $5000 for R3, and $7500 for R4.
As well, I don't see the need of altering any of the bonus wheel amounts. They are fine as they are. Adding the amounts that we saw during Big Money Week permanently takes away from the "grandness," so-to-speak, of the $100,000.

I'd have a lot of changes to offer... all of them dealing with the maingame (the BR is pretty much fine as it is now).
- Remove the first two Toss-Ups, having Red start R1, Yellow start R2, and Blue begin R3 leaving the $3,000 Toss-Up to determine who starts R4. - Move the Million Dollar Wedge to $550 ($800's a big amount to put it on). - Move the Jackpot to the neighboring blue $500 to avoid the value conflict. - Move the Prize Puzzle Round to Round 1 and the Jackpot Round to Round 3, with the Prize Puzzle Round not being every day and the Prize Puzzle prize being a small prize worth <$3,000. - Remove the second Bankrupt from Round 1. - Replace Free Play with the Free Spin. - Turn the green $500 back into $700, put the Wild Card there and include $700 per letter when you land on the Wild Card. - Make $1,000 a regular amount and add $1,500 in Round 3 (in place of the blue $500 near $900). - Swap the red $900 and blue $500's colors. - Get rid of the Gift Tag and 1/2 Kia Tags.
Most of these changes reflect on my own custom wheels, but I'm not including those changes.

I think it's both the recession and the fact that they gave away the million when they never expected, nor probably wanted it to be won. It's been over 3.5 years now, I would hope whatever part they were obligated to pay has long since been adjusted for. And ugh, I made a stat that collected how many puzzles the winner of each show solved, but not at home to grab that, Otter... I *think* 3 was most common, followed by 2. 1 has only happened like 5 times this season. I suppose it would be useful to expand that stat and do the same for second, then check how many times the winner solved more, the same, or less than second, wouldn't it?

I'd be nice to see the wheel cleaned of its cardboard crap, so I'm keeping this fairly realistic. My ideal plans are much more elaborate, and if you want more, ask.
Ideally, we put a 1K wedge back on the wheel, currently where the pink $300 is (yellow $400 to the right, red $900 to the left), just like the early/mid 90s. Maybe not pink, but in the green sparkle style. Since this then conflicts with the nearby green $300 change that to pink; then since that ALSO conflicts with the pink $900, make that $900 green.
Offer about 2 or 3 times a week a Prize Puzzle that is not a trip. For instance, off computers, furniture, entertainment systems, offices, etc. The best part of all of these is that they work nicely with sponsors; the entertainment systems/computers can always be Sony (for obvious reasons), BrandSource for furniture, etc.
Have the WC be unaffected by Bankrupt. It's been lost far too often this season.
Add the rare spruced up trip to the Bonus Round. This would be a nice homage to the show's roots, as well as being a nice change of pace from the cars and cash (and the seldomly seen motorhome). Get sponsored by a luxury hotel to help cover costs. As much as this reeks of a Mikey move, this does help get in the MTV generation, and helps dispel the old (but false) notion that 'WOF is an old people show'.

I hope that everything a contestant picked up from the wheel is not affected by the bankrupt wedge.

^ Kind of defeats the purpose of a Bankrupt wedge then.

I'd still treat the MDW the same as the WC; reason being it's been harder to retain the MDW even if you don't hit Bankrupt in the round you claim it and someone else solves the puzzle.

I really love some of these suggestion I'm seeing. But there is only more they can do for Season 30: Get rid of that darn theme song!! It's already lived out its time.
